The Seals, Trumpets and Vials of Revelation DO NOT Occur In Sequential Order

The traditional teaching on the seals, trumpets and vials of Revelation is that the 7 seals are opened first, then the 7 trumpets are blown, then the 7 vials are poured out. This is the widely accepted view, yet the Bible never said this was how it was. When examining the judgments, it is clear that this doctrine is erroneous, and has contradictions.

The first contradiction is that the 6th seal is the 2nd coming of Jesus.

Revelation 6:12-17 says, “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”

Matthew 24:29-31 says, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

There is a clear parallel between the two. In both, the sun goes dark, the moon doesn’t give its light, the stars fall to earth and the wicked men of the earth mourn and are fearful. Revelation 6:12-17 and Matthew 24:29-31 are talking about the same day, the 2nd coming of Jesus.

This is a major flaw with the traditional teaching, as there cannot be 7 more trumpets and 7 more vials after the 2nd coming of Jesus.

The second contradiction is that the 7th trumpet completes the mystery of God.

Revelation 10:7 says, “But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.”

The mystery of God being complete means there is nothing left. To say that there are 7 more vials of judgment after the mystery of God is complete is contradictory. Once again, the traditional view does not align with scripture.

If The Traditional View Isn’t Correct, What Is?

Once the flaws are pointed out in the traditional view, the next question is what is the correct way to interpret the seals, trumpets and vials?

The seals, trumpets and vials are three different stories of judgment that lead to the 2nd coming of Jesus. The best biblical comparison to this is that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are all gospels, but they tell the story differently. The seals, trumpets and vials are similar to the gospels in that way: they say the same thing, but in slightly different ways.

The seals are the longer story, which is why they were listed first. They began in the 1st century AD and will culminate at the 2nd coming of Jesus.

The trumpets are shorter than the seals, which is why they were listed second. The trumpets began in the early 1900s and will culminate at the 2nd coming of Jesus

The vials are the extremely short story, which is why they were listed last. They are the only judgments that have a timeframe of the Great Tribulation. They all take place in the last 3 1/2 years of the tribulation, as the judgments are directed towards the kingdom of the beast.

All three of these stories overlap each other and start at different points in history, yet they all culminate on the same day.

4(possibly 5)/7 seals have been opened and the 5/7 trumpets have been blown. These judgments are a mix of catastrophic world events and demonic ideologies being released.
