Prehistory – What Really Happened Before 3000 BC?

Prehistory is defined as the time period before 3000 BC, which is noted as the formation of the first civilization, Mesopotamia. There are no archeological records or writings before Mesopotamia, and even the oldest Biblical book, Job, doesn’t predate Mesopotamia. There are two main explanations of prehistory, and I will cover them both.

Biblical Explanation of Prehistory

The first explanation comes from the Bible and Genesis 1-11. While Genesis wasn’t written during prehistory, it is traditionally believed that Moses wrote Genesis. It is estimated that God created the world in 4000 BC, which would make the world around 6000 years old. Mankind continues to multiply, and the Sumerians transform Mesopotamia from small tribes into a civilization in 3000 BC. Humans became corrupt, as noted in Genesis 6, which leads to the Flood of Noah in around 2300 BC. Babylon, a city in Mesopotamia, then forms from the descendants of Noah, which leads to the Tower of Babel under Nimrod (Gilgamesh in Mesopotamian writing).

To sum it up, the Bible tells us that there was no distinct difference in humans from then and now; we were and are still evil. The reason there is no record of anything before Mesopotamia is because the Flood of Noah wiped everything out. (The Egyptian pyramids survived the flood).

Scientific Explanation of Prehistory

People struggle to accept that there were only about 1000 years of history before Mesopotamia, which is why scientists have their theory of prehistory. This theory suggests that humans were hunter-gatherers for over 200,000 years. They believe that humans traveled in small groups and moved around from place to place to get food. After 200,000 years, humans suddenly realized that they didn’t have to travel around and that they could put seeds in the ground to make food. In the next 10,000 years, humans started to settle and farm food, which would lead to the creation of writing and civilizations in 3000 BC.

Issues With The Scientific Explanation of Prehistory

People reject the Biblical view of history because they don’t want to believe in God. They create distorted timelines of history to try and depict the Biblical account of prehistory as being inaccurate. The scientific view has many flaws and unanswerable questions.

Flaw 1: Cave Conjecture

The biggest issue of prehistory was that nothing was left behind. While people supporting prehistory may claim that cave paintings and other things were left behind, there is no accurate way of dating them. These people use “cave conjecture”, which is making educated guesses of what happened during prehistory. They may say a painting is 13,000 years old, but because we don’t know anything before 3000 BC, there is no real support for the claim. Instead of believing the Bible, people have decided to “play the guessing game” of what happened. I could discover random bones in a dilapidated cave and use “cave conjecture” to guess that these bones came from Paleolithic humans. Too many people trust cave conjecture, when in reality, the method is extremely faulty.

Flaw 2: To Suggest Humans Didn’t Write For 200,000 Years is Absurd

Another flaw with the scientific view is its suggestion that humans didn’t write for its first 200,000 years. People who believe in prehistory believe that writing was invented 5,500 years ago. It is extremely counter-intuitive to suggest that they left behind paintings, drawings and they communicated via talking, but they didn’t write. Drawing, like writing, is a form of communication by hand, so it is unlikely that humans took 200,000 years to figure out writing. This isn’t to say that a writing system should be developed quickly, but the fact that the earliest proof of writing is 5,500 years old hurts the theory of prehistory. For comparison, the theory also states that humans started speaking somewhere between 150,000 and 50,000 years ago, and they started drawing around 40,000 years ago. Writing is a huge staple of human communication, and to suggest that humans went 200,000 years without it is absurd.

Flaw 3: Why Did Mesopotamia Form 10,000 Years After Humans Supposedly Settled In One Place?

People date the settling of humans from somewhere between 13,000 and 8,000 BC. That is 10,000 to 5,000 years before the first civilization was formed. It is absurd to suggest that humans settled and started growing crops for 5,000 to 10,000 years before deciding to come together as one civilization. For one, humans were supposedly traveling in hunter-gatherer groups before they settled, so a civilization should have quickly been formed when they settled. Early humans supposedly stayed together, so it doesn’t make sense that it would take thousands of years for a group of humans to settle together, when they supposedly traveled together in groups. In all, the 10,000-year gap between supposed human settlement and the first civilization doesn’t make much sense.

In Conclusion

The way anti-God scientists try to explain prehistory is extremely flawed. All of the facts point back to God creating everything, as there are numerous contradictions and errors in the scientific explanation of prehistory. Humans were NOT hunter-gatherers for 200,000 years and there were not billions of years of history before 3000 BC. God created heaven and earth around 6,000 years ago, then the Flood of Noah wiped everything out and caused a reset in about 2300 BC.

Thank you for reading, and always remember to stay vigilant!
