List of God’s Names

Published August 13, 2024 at 7:16 PM

In conjunction with the article that covers the history of God’s name, this article will include an extensive (not exhaustive) list of God’s names in the Bible. We will not use “Jehovah”, as that is a mistranslation of His name. Instead, we will use YHWH, which was undoubtedly His original name. People can argue if it is pronounced “Yahuah” or “Yahweh”, but we cannot argue against the four letters of the Tetragrammaton. Similarly, “Yahusha” will be used for Jesus’ name, though I understand that some argue for “Yahshua”, “Yahushua” or “Yeshua”.

NOTE: Please pay attention to the difference between LORD and Lord (and the difference between GOD and God)

CONCLUSION

I pray that this article blessed you, and that you begin to use some of these names in prayer and worship. God obviously hears you when you refer to him as “The LORD”, but there is a special nearness attached to calling God by His name. He wants His name proclaimed throughout all the earth (Exodus 9:16) and He wants us to call on His name, for it is exalted (Isaiah 12:4). We should all call on the name of YHWH, who is worthy to be praised (Psalm 18:3).

Thank you for reading, and always remember to stay vigilant!
